Food Day
"Food Day aims to inspire Americans to change their diets and our food policies. Every year, thousands of events all around the country bring Americans together to celebrate and enjoy real food and to push for improved food policies. This year, it is a day to resolve to make changes in our own diets and to take action to solve food-related problems in our communities at the local, state, and national level. In 2014, Food Day will have a special focus on food access and justice for food and farm workers."

The Pittsburgh Blues Festival
In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Pittsburgh Blues Festival, the Food Bank is challenging attendees to help it collect 20 tons of food for those less fortunate in our community. Nonperishable grocery items will be accepted all weeklong and a bag of these items will earn free admission on Friday, July 25.

Poverty Simulation with The Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank
An interactive poverty simulation in partnership with the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank, where we will be led on a realistic journey to experience poverty first-hand. Attendees will be assigned the roles of families with income at or below the poverty line and will understand the struggle to provide basic necessities (food, shelter, healthcare, etc.) while facing life’s circumstances.
